Jan Pedersen Schiff, Artistic Director
Jan Pedersen Schiff, founder and Artistic Director of SingersMarin, received a BA degree in Music Education from Augsburg College, Minneapolis, MN, and a MM degree in Choral Conducting, with an emphasis in vocal pedagogy from the University of Colorado. Ms. Pedersen Schiff has been professionally involved with a broad range of choral groups, from K-12, community, church and professional choruses. She has served on college music faculties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Southern California before moving to Marin County. In the North Bay, she has taught voice classes at Napa Valley College and the College of Marin, and is frequently called upon to lead choral and vocal workshops, serving as choral clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor,including a choral festival at the Lincoln Center last spring. As a distinguished choral alumnus, Ms. Pedersen Schiff was invited to return to her alma mater, Augsburg College, and guest conduct the Millennium Choir. Through Chorus America, she was given the privilege of guest conducting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Formerly, as Founder of the Hollywood Chorale, she received the Susan B. Anthony Award for Cultural Achievement. In Marin, she has received the Marin Women's Commission Certificate of Commendation for her outstanding achievements with the teen and adult women's choruses, as well as the prestigious Milley Award for her achievements and contributions to the creative life of Mill Valley and the community of Marin. In 2013, she was inducted into the Marin Women's Hall of Fame.
Joanna Dudley, Youth Program Administrator/Caroling Kids/Twinkling Stars and Starlights Conductor
Jo received a BA degree in Ancient History from the University of London and a Postgraduate degree in Education from the University of Canterbury, England. She spent thirteen years as an elementary school teacher specializing in Music and History. In that time she led the school's musical life; directed and conducted several junior choirs, arranged numerous concerts, choreographed productions and produced a professional cd. With her junior chamber choir she won the largest choir festival competition in Southern England for the last four years running with the highest possible grade. Three years ago Joanna was promoted to the role of Deputy Head of the Junior School and became responsible for the educational progress and well being of the school's 400 pupils. Alongside her teaching role, Joanna trained as a professional singer studying at Morley College in London and with the internationally renowned mezzo soprano Nancy Long. As a Soprano she has given recitals, featured in public master classes and performed as a soloist for many choirs and orchestras. For the last five years she has sung with the Royal choir of St. Alfege, Greenwich and appeared as a soloist for the Thomas Tallis choir. Joanna moved to Tiburon with her husband and 21 month old son last January from England and can't wait to begin her work with the Singers Marin Youth Choirs.
Dana Cherry, Twinkling Stars/Caroling Kids Conductor
Dana Cherry is a native of Marin County where she has been singing and performing since childhood. Dana received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Dominican University and Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco and is currently an MFT intern working for Huckkleberry Youth Programs. Dana has been able to incorporate her musical training and theater background when working with children in a therapeutic setting. Dana was the founding member of les étoiles in 1996 and worked for several years as the youth program director for Singers Marin. Dana has recently performed with the Mountain Play, Novato Theater Company, College of Marin and Stapleton Theater Company and the Ross Valley Players. She looks forward to another fun filled musical year working with Caroling Kids/Twinkling Stars!
Miranda Mallard, Youth Conductor
Miranda Mallard is a professional singer who enjoys a career in many avenues of music performance, education, and creation. She sings with the Marin Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus (soloist), and performs and tours often with her indie classical duo, Dagmar. She works also as a songwriter and recording artist.
Miranda worked for many years teaching band in the Dixie School District, teaching contemporary dance at Roco Studios, and teaching music students privately. She spent the last few years teaching as a K-12 music teacher for a school in Iowa. She currently teaches private lessons, classes with Little Folkies, after school choir at MPMS, and is a new teacher with Singers Marin. Miranda loves to connect with her students and always looks for new ways to make music fun and accessible while still growing vocally as much as possible. Irene Jacobson, Primary Accompanist
Irene Jacobson has served as the primary accompanist for SingersMarin since 1992. Ms. Jacobson is in demand throughout the Bay Area as pianist/accompanist, arranger, and music director for choirs, orchestras, cantors, vocalists, and instrumentalists. She is currently a member of the Shinozaki-Jacobson duo (with violinist Rick Shinozaki) which is a regular feature at the West Marin Music Festival. Notable past performances have included premieres of sonatas by Durwynne Hsieh and Mark Fish. Her endeavors have also extended to choral conducting and silent film composition, and she enjoys performing works of all styles from classical to Broadway to jazz. Irene received double degrees in Music and Social welfare from UC Berkeley and studied piano with Dusi Mura, Martha Wasley, and Nathan Schwartz. Today, when she is not playing piano, she is playing mom to her young son, Nathan.
Jeff Paul, Accompanist
Jeffrey Paul is a concert pianist, accompanist, musical director, and piano teacher throughout the San Francisco Bay Area . Jeff attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance. Jeff is the musical director for the First Congregational Church in San Rafael, Chorus Emeritus at the College of Marin, and is the staff accompanist for the College of Marin. Jeff has toured and performed in Europe and the South Pacific. Jeff also wears another hat as a real estate agent for Bradley Real Estate in Marin.
Maryliz Smith, Accompanist
Maryliz Smith is an international performance artist, composer and music educator. She holds a BA and a MM in Organ Performance from Colorado State University with further graduate studies at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. In the Bay Area, Ms. Smith is involved with coaching musicians, premiering new works, and facilitating sessions pertaining to the creative process with groups and individuals searching to be inventive, daring, self-expressing people.
Alla Artemova-Helton, Accompanist
Alla Artemova-Helton is a pianist, organist and harpsichordist. She finished Gnessin School of Music, and graduated from Conservatory of Music, The State Classical Academy in Moscow, Russia. Alla has performed in concert halls, museums, churches, universities throughout USA and Europe. She is an active performer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Alla performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and as an accompanist with various choral groups, instrumentalists, vocalists, ballet programs, opera and musical theater productions, K-12 music programs at concerts, festivals, competitions, community events, auditions, recordings, and more. Alla also runs a thriving piano studio for students of all ages and levels. She is an active member of Music Teachers' Association of California. Marin County became her home in the early 2000s, and she feels blessed to be a part of this amazing community of people!

Rosemary Beecher Bryant, Music Instructor
Rosemary Beecher Bryant is a singer, choral director and music teacher from London, England. She studied music at Cambridge University, where she was a choral scholar in the Chapel Choir of Trinity College. Upon graduation, she moved to Ireland to take up the position of Soprano Lay Vicar at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, where she was also the Director of the Cathedral Girls’ Choir. Ms. Beecher Bryant is a General Music and Orchestra teacher in Ross Valley School District and directs the Chancel Choir at First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael. She is the Assistant Director of Marin Baroque Chamber Ensemble and sings with Marin Symphony Chorus and Chamber Choir.
